Biography of Hansrudi Wäscher

  • 1928 Born on 5 April in St Gallen in the German-speaking region of Switzerland, later moved to Lugano, in the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland
  • 1940 Moved to Hanover
  • 1944 Passed his intermediate school certificate; began to train as a poster artist at the Hanover School of Applied Arts, seven semesters of commercial art
  • First illustrations for the Schwarzwald publishing house: brochure on road safety entitled Mr Boll
  • 1953-1968 Worked for the Walter Lehning publishing house: produced the Sigurd, Falk, Tibor, Nick the astronaut comic series. Continued the Akim series created by the Italian artist Augusto Pedrazza
  • 1967 New Roy Strong series for the Lehning publishing house; resumed the Falk series
  • 1969 Moved to the Bastei publishing house in Bergisch-Gladbach: developed the Buffalo Bill series
  • 1982 Worked for the Norbert Hethke publishing house (in Schönau): published reissues; new series of comics involving the fantasy figure Fenrir
  • 2009 Celebrated his 81st birthday. He lives in southern Germany with his wife Helga and works occasionally on commission for collectors
