Michael Lüders - Amina's Restaurant

Sid Mohammed Boucetta, a Moroccan who learnt German through the explorer Gerhard Rohlf’s African travel books, has a dream. He wants to open a restaurant in his hometown of Bremen with his wife Amina and his daughter Jasmina. With his skill and the help of a student, Alexander, who has fallen in love with Jasmina, Sid Mohammed succeeds for one summer in making Amina’s restaurant at the dyke a magical place for East and West to meet. While Amina cooks up tempting dishes, Sid Mohammed spins yarns in the tradition of oriental storytellers, of love and loss, horror and happiness. As in any fairy tale, evil lurks, but in spite of this the customers at Amina’s restaurant all leave having experienced something new . . .
