1981-1983 Travels through Africa and Asia, reporting for the magazine TransAtlantik

Wins annual art prize of the Frankfurter Verein für Künstlerhilfe, an organization supporting the development of newcomers in the Arts

Travels in the Philippines, witnesses the civil war

 

1989 Villa Massimo, Rome

1991

Establishes the Bettina von Armin Prize for short prose with Ulrike Bauer; travels in the USA and North Africa

Stay in Somalia during the civil war

Works on numerous screenplay; stays in Moscow, Lisbon and Buenos Aires
