At the end of the 1980s the Bacher family experiences first-hand in Leipzig the Monday peace prayers and the growing wave of protests that led to the capitulation of the GDR regime in October 1989. As well as the political events, Loest focuses on the conflicts felt by the GDR’s citizens during the changes.
