Erhard Dietl was born in Regensburg in 1953. From an early age he was writing and illustrating his own stories. He studied at the school of graphic design and at the academy of fine arts in Munich. His first book, "Everything on Wheels Rolls" was published by Parabel in 1976. This was followed by numerous contributions to various children's magazines, e.g. the YPS (a popular German comic). His illustrations for children's books appear in his own works and those of other authors. The "Olchi" books, depicting the adventures of little green creatures bearing that name, are probably his best-known works. Many of his more than one hundred published books are available in translation in numerous languages around the world. Erhard Dietl has received many awards for his work including the Austrian Youth Literature Prize. He lives in Munich.
