Uwe Timm

Uwe Timm was born in Hamburg in 1940 and began writing stories while still at school. After an apprenticeship as a furrier he completed secondary school. He studied philosophy and German in Munich and Paris, completed a doctorate and then pursued further studies in sociology and economics in Munich. Since 1971 he has been a full-time freelance writer.
In addition to numerous novels and stories for adults, Uwe Timm has published four books for young readers, the best-known of which is probably "Rennschwein Rudi Rüssel", which was published in 1989.
