He studied German and political science at the University of Giessen and completed post-doctoral studies on children's language and children's songs.
Beginning in 1972 he began recording songs to the delight of children and adults alike.
In recent years his work has focused on "new movement songs", which are intended to inspire movement and a desire to become more active.
In training courses for adults Vahle teaches how to use songs in everyday teaching situations.
That is also the focus of his current teaching work at the University of Gießen.
