      Penelope Wehrli was born in 1957 in Zurich. From 1980 to 1989, she lived in New York where she worked as a performer and film maker. There in 1989 she met the dance choreographer Johann Kresnik and he invited her to design costumes and sets for his productions. In following years she has worked with directors like Jossi Wieler, Robert Schuster and Barbara Frey. In addition to her scenographic work, she develops and stages her own artistic projects, which have been performed in Berlin, Belgrad and Bangalore. Since 2004, Wehrli has shared a Professorship for scenography with Beatrix von Pilgrim at the Academy for Design in Karlsruhe. The monograph "raum partituren" was recently published in 2010 by Benteli, Switzerland
