  • Theatre education sessions for schools
This children’s and youth theatre was set up in 1984 and is the fourth section of the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg. Until 2011, it was called Zwinger3. It has its own ensemble with three actresses and four actors and its own 130-seat theatre. Each season, it stages at least five new productions for children and young people from the age of four, of which one play is performed on the Municipal Stage and another is performed open-air at the castle during the Heidelberg Schlossfestspiele.

Its theatre’s education work includes interactive preparation before attending a play and a follow-up afterwards,” Overnight Theatre“, a “Parent and Child Workshop“, projects with secondary schools and a club for anyone aged 6 to 116 who likes acting. Since the 2011/12 season, managing director Holger Schultze has been concluding cooperation agreements with schools, ensuring that every pupil can attend the theatre at least once a season. In addition, the theatre offers further-training sessions for teachers, theatre days for schools and an annual festival called “LEINEN LOS! – Junges Theater im Delta“, at which all the region’s drama clubs can present the results of their work. In this area, the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg cooperates with the Junges Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Theater im Pfalzbau Ludwigshafen and the Nibelungenhorde from Speyer.
