The Monteure are a Cologne-based, independent theatre. Since 1988, they have been a travelling theatre, taking their own productions for children and young people on tour.
Under the artistic management of director/performer Joachim von der Heiden and choreographer/dancer Andrea Lucas, they explore unusual narrative forms in children’s theatre. Since 1998, composer/musician Thomas Marey and actress/musician Karoline von Lüdinghausen have been permanent members of the ensemble.
The Theater Monteure develops exclusively its own productions. A distinctive feature of its work is the interplay of the different languages of the dance, music, drama and performance genres, which results in both dance theatre productions and image theatre.
Since 2005, the Theater Monteure has cooperated with the Bürgerhaus Stollwerck, where it stages the works in its repertoire and its premieres. The Theatre Monteure takes its works on tour around Europe and is often invited to perform at festivals.
