Theater STRAHL Berlin
- Youth theatre
- Theatre education sessions for schools
Its permanent performance venues are “Die Weisse Rose” Cultural Centre and the open-air stage in the theatre garden on Wartburgplatz in Berlin-Schöneberg. Smaller productions are performed on the rehearsal stage at Kulturhaus Schöneberg. Since November 2006, THEATER STRAHL has performed regularly at the Admiralspalast Studio in Berlin-Mitte.
STRAHL develops plays that deal with the young generation’s perspectives, fears, wishes and abilities. STRAHL uses classic material, such as Wedekind’s “Frühlings Erwachen” (Spring Awakening) and transposes it into the contemporary world. In the field of interactive theatre, STRAHL develops a genre tailored to young people, with pieces such as FREESTYLE in cooperation with Theatersport Berlin and “52,3° NORD – Eine Einladung zum Fremdsein” (52.3 ° NORTH – An Invitation to be Foreign) in cooperation with the Zürich-based Kompanie Kopfstand. The young audience is involved in the performances and can take an active part in determining the plays’ outcome.
Theater STRAHL works in close contact with its audience, offers youth theatre workshops, theatre workshops to prepare and follow up performances and public rehearsals. It cultivates cooperation with schools and youth institutions.
