Katja Brunner was born at Zurich in 1991. She studied literary writing at Bern University of the Arts and creative writing for the stage at Berlin University of the Arts. Her play von den beinen zu kurz (Too Short in the Legs) was written in 2010 under the Drama Processor programme and premiered at the Theater Winkelwiese. In 2012, she took part in the Werkstatttage at the Burgtheater. In 2013, she was invited to the Heidelberg Play Market with her piece die hölle ist auch nur eine sauna (hell is just a sauna) and won the Mülheim Dramatists' Award with the German premiere of Too Short in the Legs. During the 2014/2015 season, Katja Brunner is writer-in-residence at Theater Lucerne.
