Teodora Claudia Herghelegiu studied Romance languages and English at the University of Bucharest as well as film and audiovisual communication at the Bucharest Theatre and Film Academy. She has been working as a playwright and stage director since 1997. In 2006, she staged “Die arabische Nacht” by Roland Schimmelpfenning at the Teatrul Mic in Bucharest and, in 2007, “Vier Bilder der Liebe” by Lukas Bärfuss at the Bacovia Theatre in Bacau. She is also a freelance journalist who regularly writes for newspapers, magazines and publishing houses. In 2001, she won an AICT prize (International Association of Theatre Critics) for founding the Inexistent Theatre, a small underground theatre in Bucharest.
