Frédéric Gies, born in France in 1973, lives and works in Berlin. After studying ballet and contemporary dance, he worked with various French choreographers before moving to Berlin in 2004.
He is currently part of the collective Praticable. He creates his pieces alone or in collaboration with other choreographers (Alice Chauchat, Frédéric de Carlo, Isabelle Schad, Manuel Pelmus, Jefta van Dinther and DD Dorvillier).

Since 2000, he has taken BMC® workshops with Vera Orlock, Sarita Beraha, Trisha Bauman and Walburga Glatz on a regular base.

Profound research into the bodily origins of movement, as well as inspiration from experiential approaches in anatomy and physiology, particularly in practices such BMC®, inform his most recent work. Out of these investigations into the correlations of body and movement, he develops methods of choreographic composition, changing his approach for every new piece he creates. His pieces tour internationally (Germany, Netherlands, France, Belgium, Croatia, Spain, Sweden, Romania, Serbia, Estonia, Austria).
