From 1980 to 1990, he worked as a dramaturge for the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, about which he also wrote two books. He has been developing own theatre pieces for various dancers since 1989 and has performed in numerous countries in Europe, as well as in Japan, South Korea, Australia, Canada and the U.S.A.
Hoghe also frequently works for television and produced e.g. the one-hour self-portrait “Der Buckel” in 1997 commissioned by the WDR. In 2005, he made the film “Cartes Postales” (directed by Richard Copans) for ARTE. In 2001, Hoghe received the German Producer’s Prize for Choreography. He won the French Prix de la Critique in 2006 for "Swan Lake, 4 Acts" (in the category "Best Foreign Piece"). Critics from the magazine ballet-tanz named him "Dancer of the Year" in 2008. He lives in Düsseldorf.
