Ben J. Riepe studied Dance and Choreography at the Folkwang University in Essen. He worked with NEUER TANZ in Düsseldorf and as a guest dancer with Pina Bausch’s Wuppertal Tanztheater ensemble. His own work began to receive recognition while he was still a post-graduate student of Choreography. The Ben J. Riepe Company was founded in 2004 and today has twelve members. In addition, Ben J. Riepe gives lectures and teaches seminars and workshops for adults, teenagers and children in Germany and abroad.
In autumn 2007, he supervised a contemporary dance production with Malaysian artists (commissioned by the Goethe Institute) in Kuala Lumpur. Ben J. Riepe is a participant of the Chin-A-Moves project, a co-operation between Chinese and European artists, initiated by tanzhaus nrw.
