Between Dance and Image – “Sasha Waltz. Installations Objects Performances” (09/28/2013)
From 27 September 2013 until 2 February 2014, an exhibition at the Center for Media and Art Karlsruhe (ZKM) will be blending the choreographies of Sasha Waltz with visual art.
The exhibition features eight major installations that are intended to give an overview of Sasha Waltz’s work. They include the video installation Vitrine, the performance Wolke and the video installation Mediterranean Sea. All the works have been disengaged from choreographies by Waltz – be they objects such as a glass wall in Körper or performances – and transferred to the area of visual arts. “I tried to select elements that are to be found along this boundary between dance and image, body and installation”, is how Waltz explains her approach.
The exhibition will begin with a programme of performances by Sasha Waltz’s Berlin dance company, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
