Goethe-Zertifikat A1: Start Deutsch 1

The Goethe-Zertifikat A1: Start Deutsch 1 certifies that the learner has acquired basic German language skills. The examination corresponds to level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). It is the easiest test offered by the Goethe-Institut. In order to pass the examination, participants must understand around 650 words and be able to use 300 words actively. The German courses in which these skills are developed consist of 160 lessons on average, but the time taken to prepare for the examination may be shorter or longer depending on the learner’s previous knowledge and learning requirements.
