Zuwanderungsgesetz (Immigration Act)
The Act to Control and Restrict Immigration and to Regulate the Residence and Integration of EU Citizens and Foreigners (“Immigration Act”) entered into force on 1 January 2005, and is the outcome of a comprehensive reform of the legislation pertaining to foreign nationals in Germany.
The main component of the Immigration Act is Article 1, the Act on the Residence, Economic Activity and Integration of Foreigners in the Federal Territory (“Residence Act”.
