Since mid 2007, spouses from third countries wishing to join their husbands or wives in Germany must demonstrate basic German language skills in order to qualify for a visa. Featuring the life stories of four people studying at the Goethe-Institut in Bangkok, Casablanca, Istanbul and Nairobi, this film provides an overview of the services provided by the Goethe-Institut to equip this group of immigrants with the language and intercultural skills they need for a life in Germany.
