“Think globally!“ Under this motto, the Goethe-Institute invites international stake holders and experts in the fields of (higher and initial) vocational education, migration, integration and labour mobility to Berlin in order to discuss global perspectives of action.

With the adoption of the „Migration Package” by the German Federal Government, including the law on immigration of highly qualified specialists and skilled workers; the public debate on vocational training, in the countries of destination as well as the countries of origin of migrants, has gained considerably more importance. Germany finds itself in an increasingly competitive international market for skilled workers, and must therefore continue promoting itself as an internationally attractive educational and work location.

Together with political and economic representatives, labour-market and education experts; the Goethe-Institute wants to identify which aspects call for action in order to improve the international cooperation in vocational education and skilled worker qualification.

Besides the discussion of current findings concerning the international mobility of skilled workers, the conference examines the role of vocational education within the course of migration and the process of integration – from qualification and trainings in the country of origin to structural (re-)integration in the country of destination.

The conference is hosted by Hatice Akyün, conference languages are German and English. Participation is free of charge. Given that places are limited, please register under the following link by 15th of October the latest:
