May until November 2006
What power does language have? How can language be used, but also abused? When is it a bridge? When is it a barrier? There are very many possibilities to realise the concept of “The power of language” in photographic form – and we are deliberately refraining from imposing any restriction. The worldwide consideration of the task and the photographic diversity of the depictions are intended to give expression to the many aspects of the subject. The submitted photographs will be assessed in terms of concept, design and originality of realisation.
The prize-winning photographers will be rewarded as follows:
1st prize € 1,000
2nd prize € 700
3rd prize € 500
The winning photographs and a selection of the best work of other participants will be publicly exhibited at “The power of language” festival in Berlin. Furthermore, publication of the submissions in an exhibition catalogue is planned. In addition to the money prize, the top prize-winner will be invited to Berlin to the opening of the exhibition of the selected entries.
