Goethe-Institut e. V.

The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institution, which is operational worldwide and as such promotes the German language abroad and encourages cultural cooperation with other countries.

The Goethe-Institut provides information about cultural, social and political life in Germany and with its network of Goethe-Instituts, Goethe Centres, cultural societies, reading rooms and exam and language learning centres it plays a central role in cultural and educational policies abroad.

“Schule im Wandel” is a project under the umbrella of Bildungskooperation Deutsch. Bildungskooperation Deutsch works abroad with education authorities and associations of German teachers to promote the teaching of German in the guest country. It runs further training seminars for teachers and develops teaching materials that cater for the culture and learning traditions of the guest country. Further training for German teachers, exhibitions, author readings, competitions, film showings, concerts, as well as scholarships and visitor programmes create the link to contemporary culture and politics in Germany.

The Goethe-Institut has the overall responsibility for the “Schule im Wandel” project. As well as the head office in Munich, the Goethe-Institut in Prague is involved in the project.
