„Schule im Wandel” (Schools Undergoing Change) Continues on the Road to Worldwide Successen

© Goethe-InstitutThe College of Education in Heidelberg and the University of Madrid instituted the first cross-border implementation of the materials of “Schule im Wandel”. This provoked international discussions among students in Spain and Germany, and the materials were very generally favourably received by them

Presently, a training course for 17 tutors of middle and eastern European countries is taking place, preparing them to offer “Schule im Wandel” at training programmes and professional development courses all over middle and eastern Europe.

After the successful implementation of “Schule im Wandel” in professional teacher training courses at various universities in Poland, more pedagogical institutions in Poland have registered their interest in the materials provided by the blended learning course. Presently, selected films are in the process of being subtitled in Polish.

© Goethe-Institut TaschkentA professional development course on “Schule im Wandel” for trainers of teachers of German took place in Tashkent from 5-7 March 2011, enabling them to view and discuss the materials and to evaluate the possibilities for introducing “Schule im Wandel” to Uzbekistan. Due to the immense interest in “Schule im Wandel” during and after the course, a chapter of “Schule im Wandel” will be provided online with a view to encouraging online discussion of the project in the specific Uzbek context.

In Serbia, the professional development materials attached to “Schule im Wandel” were officially accredited by the Ministry of Education and included in the officially recognised list of professional development courses.

© Goethe-Institut MoskauFrom 14-15 April 2011, a meeting of school principals will be held in Moscow on “Schule im Wandel”. At the meeting, they will be able to exchange information and experience; in addition, active conceptual participation of principals in the PASCH project will be facilitated through group-work.

The ongoing Arab Spring with its massive political changes is also having an impact on schools. The Goethe Institute in Kairo is subtitling selected films from “Schule im Wandel” in order to facilitate a discussion on the issues depicted among present and future teachers of German, as well as those responsible for education in those countries.

© Goethe-Institut PragIn addition, a distance learning course is presently being developed so as to satisfy the growing worldwide demand for “Schule im Wandel”; this course will go online at the end of April 2011.
