You work as a non-native German language teacher (primary and elementary level, CLIL or adult education) and wish to improve your German language skills in a special area.

What does the distance learning course FACHDEUTSCH FÜR DEN UNTERRICHT offer?

1. The FACHDEUTSCH FÜR DEN UNTERRICHT online course is designed to broaden the general linguistic skills of non-native German language teachers by specialist language knowledge in specific areas. The course also enhances awareness of how to use language in the teaching context.
2. The course allows you flexibility in your time planning and learning intensity. It is therefore ideal as a tool for part-time further training.
3. The course is an online group course and has a duration of ten weeks. The number of participants is limited to a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 15.
4. You work on the Goethe-Institut learning platform and are supported throughout the course by a qualified tutor. He or she will correct your work assignments and provide both the group and each participant with regular feedback and individual learning tips.
5. At the end of the course, you will receive a participation certificate.

Previous knowledge required for FACHDEUTSCH FÜR DEN UNTERRICHT

German language knowledge to Level B1. If you are unsure of your current level of proficiency, we will conduct an individual grading test.

Course description FACHDEUTSCH FÜR DEN UNTERRICHT

The FACHDEUTSCH FÜR DEN UNTERRICHT online course is a group course with a maximum of 15 participants. It takes account of both voice-based activities in foreign language teaching (such as explaining, giving examples, motivating, praising and reprimanding) and also the possibilities of non-verbal communication (playacting, graphical representation, pointing, use of facial expressions etc.).

All the materials for this online course are provided on the Goethe-Institut learning platform, with practical, realistic exercises for upgrading your specialist language knowledge. The platform also offers various technical channels through which you can communicate with the other course participants.

The tasks are dealt with jointly by the whole group. You can nevertheless arrange your learning time flexibly. You are supported by a qualified tutor throughout the course. For this online course, you are allowed access to the Goethe-Institut learning platform for a period of ten weeks. Altogether, you should be able to work online for about 35 hours.

Materials for the FACHDEUTSCH FÜR DEN UNTERRICHT course

In this language course, you work on the Goethe-Institut learning platform. The individual lesson units contain numerous exercises and cooperative learning assignments dealing with special vocabulary and language structures. The incorporation of authentic sound recordings and transcriptions allows you to enhance your listening and reading comprehension for foreign language teaching on the basis of concrete examples. You can also create your own personal vocabulary list and use it to regularly test yourself.
