The Goethe-Institut examinations are available to all interested parties and can be taken regardless of your age or nationality.

The The Goethe-Zertifikat B1 (ZD j) is recommended for young people over the age of 12.

The The Goethe-Zertifikat B1 (ZD j) requires language knowledge at the third competence level (B1) of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Teaching units

In order to achieve this level of competence, you will need 350 to 650 45-minute teaching units, depending on your previous knowledge and learning requirements.

Preparation

If you think that you meet the language requirements, then you can enrol for an exam at any time. We recommend that you participate in one of our preparatory courses, however.
