  1. Written examination held in groups (300 minutes)

    • In the comprehension section, you will answer questions on a literary text or from a newspaper and reword some individual extracts.
    • In the articulacy test, you will deal with linguistic and grammatical variations in a text.
    • In the test on listening skills, you will answer questions on an interview or dialogue.
    • In the composition section, you will discuss a topic of your choice, dealing with either real life in Germany or a topic from literature that you have prepared based on the book list.

  2. Individual oral examination (approx. 20 minutes)

    You will be given 15 minutes to prepare a text, which you will then read out loud with appropriate rhythm and intonation. You will summarize the text and express yourself on the basis of an exercise on the topic of the text. You will have a subsequent conversation and discuss it with both examiners.

Assessment

The Goethe-Zertifikat C2: Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung is conducted and assessed the same way all over the world. Each candidate’s written papers and oral performance are evaluated separately by two examiners at the examination centre in question who apply uniform criteria.
