The New Goethe-Zertifikat B1 – Setting the Standard.
On October 15 and 16, 2012, a conference on standard-setting and benchmarking for the new Zertifikat B1 took place at the Goethe-Institut’s headquarters in Munich. As of August 1 2013, this new test will replace the tests used up to now—the Zertifikat Deutsch (ZD) and Zertifikat Deutsch für Jugendliche (ZDj) — at both the Goethe-Institut (GI) and Österreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch (ÖSD), the two institutes that administered the tests.
Renowned testing experts and language instructors, as well as representatives from the political world and educational institutions, took part in the conference. Altogether there were 45 experts from nine European countries in attendance.
The program was conducted according to the steps recommended in the Council of Europe’s Manual for Relating Language Examinations to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
