In addition to its own facilities, the Goethe-Institut takes advantage of close and long-term alliances with suitable partners overseas.
Cultural societies / Goethe Centres
"Foreign-German cultural societies" are international organizations and cultural institutions with the objective of undertaking cultural dialogue with Germany. They receive annual project funds from the Goethe-Institut and chiefly offer language courses and cultural programmes.
"Foreign-German cultural societies" who have concluded cooperation agreements with the Goethe-Institut bear the name "Goethe Centre." They undertake to set up their language and cultural work according to the principles and quality standards of the Goethe-Institut.
Reading Rooms/ Dialogue Points/ Information and L-Centres
The Goethe-Institut promotes public libraries and similar establishments in the host countries.
Around the world, there are alliances with German reading rooms, Dialogue Points and information and learning centres. They are equipped with media by the Goethe-Institut and convey, in alignment to the demands of the respective locations, information about the German language and culture as well as an up-to-date image of Germany.

The examination partners are entitled to carry out the Goethe-Institut German exams. Most of them also offer preparatory language courses and are advised by the Goethe-Institutes.
