Cultural societies / Goethe Centres
"Foreign-German cultural societies" are international organizations and cultural institutions with the objective of undertaking cultural dialogue with Germany. They receive annual project funds from the Goethe-Institut and chiefly offer language courses and cultural programmes.
30 of these have concluded cooperation agreements with the Goethe-Institut and bear the name "Goethe Centre." They undertake to set up their language and cultural work according to the principles and quality standards of the Goethe-Institut.

The 307 licensed examination partners are entitled to carry out the Goethe-Institut language exams on their own responsibility. Most of them also offer preparatory language courses and are advised by the Goethe-Institutes.
