1939 and 1989 were two years that symbolize the crossing of real and mental boundaries. The foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future and the Goethe-Institut took on this theme when they called for entries to the third international short film competition last year. Film students from eleven countries dealt with the subject matter, 335 synopses were submitted, 33 of them were implemented and 19 films will finally be awarded during the Interfilm Festival on 3 November in Berlin.
