Umbrella Music

The weather gods were merciful and the predicted rain did not fall. So, "Prototype", the first art festival for sustainability, was able to take place on the former rubbish tip in the centre of São Paulo. At a workshop with Niklas Roy, an “inventor of useless things,” as he describes himself, “umbrellaphones” were produced that, using wind energy, play various melodies. While listening to the tunes, visitors to a collective picnic also heard talks on the environment and afterwards composted their organic rubbish themselves.
