Playing with Boundaries
Moscow, at the Center for Drama and Directing: actors and dancers from Russia are on the stage – people with and without disabilities. They worked for eight months with the Berlin director Gerd Hartmann and his Moscow colleague Andrej Afonin on the play Remote Intimacy. It is based on poems, stories and self-descriptions of contemporary Russian writers who are mentally or physically disabled. The result? An exciting, special, moving work of art, says Hartmann. “That’s ultimately what theatre is for.”
