Truth is Ever Best
“Antígona Oriental” is theatre that counters forgetting, to keep the memories awake of those who were tortured, abducted and murdered. With his adaption of Sophocles' Antigone, director Volker Lösch lent a voice to the victims of the Uruguayan military dictatorship. He combined the ancient tragedy with the conflicts of today’s society in Uruguay, also collaborating in his production with former political prisoners. In 2012 the play premiered in Montevideo and it now toured Europe.
