Reading at the Beauty Salon
Literature, not gossip: The Goethe-Institut in Côte d'Ivoire is furnishing ladies' hairdressing salons with bookshelves. Many Ivoirian women go to the salon weekly and it is the only place they have an opportunity to read. Literature at the Hairdresser’s is a campaign in cooperation with the nation’s national library. At the opening, a visitor demonstrated how well a dryer hood and a good read go together.
