Defiance in a Cardboard Box
The pedestrian walkways are disappearing in Johannesburg. They are being usurped by driveway walls and expansions of gardens. Susanne Kudielka and Kaspar Wimberley used their artist residency at the Goethe-Institut South Africa to reconquer a lane on the streets in a cardboard car. Some passers-by spontaneously joined them and helped to carry the curious vehicle a 13-kilometre distance.
