Glowing Friendship
The Year of Germany in Brazil has begun. Germany’s President Joachim Gauck did the honour of appearing personally at the opening celebrations. Together with the Mayor of São Paulo, Fernando Hadda (right), and the President of the Goethe-Institut, Klaus-Dieter Lehmann (centre), he lit up the façade of the Theatro Municipal. The light installation by artist Michael Batz unites the colours of the two countries’ flags.
