A Drop of Anarchy
Graffiti, posters, decals and stencilled words on house walls and urban railway cars: for one it’s vandalism, for another it’s a form of political social criticism. More and more people even perceive some of the often colourful works as beautification of the cityscape. Entire places can be reinterpreted through street art, such as the former monitoring station of the American and British forces on the Teufelsberg in the Berlin district of Grunewald. Although street art is always a little anarchistic, it is also accused of having degenerated to impulsive rebellion. A dossier by the Goethe-Institut in the Czech Republic documents the art of the streets.
