Growing Together
Signed and sealed: Germany and Myanmar have a Cultural Treaty. This lays the cornerstone for intensified cultural and linguistic cooperation and the opening of a Goethe-Institut in Yangon. This week, Minister of State at the German Foreign Office Cornelia Pieper and Myanmar’s deputy Cultural Minister U Than Swe placed their signatures under the document. The president of the Goethe-Institut, Klaus-Dieter Lehmann, accompanied Pieper.The opening of the new Goethe-Institut is scheduled for March 2014, but the first language courses are already being offered beginning August of this year.
