Tumbling BlockIn an online competition the Goethe-Institut has called for a continuation of the fall of the wall. Border problems from around the world were transferred to the present on the patient canvases of “loosened” wall stones. The jury deemed that of 19-year-old Timur Akhmetov from Russia as a particularly convincing example. The young artist appeals to the “critical mass,” which – like a detonation wave – can knock down walls through its uprising in a peaceful revolution. On 9 November, Akmetov’s stone and approximately one thousand more will meet their horizontal end. In a domino effect at Brandenburg Gate, they will all tumble down.
