The Honorary Librarian On 18 March Klaus-Dieter Lehmann, the president of the Goethe-Institut, was named an honorary member of the Verein Deutscher Bibliothekare (Association of German Librarians). In the more than forty years of his career, Lehmann not only implemented consistent modernization of the library system, but also committed himself to the entire chain of information from the writer, to publisher, book trade, library and reader. The certificate was granted during the library congress and the Leipzig book fair at the venerable Deutsche Bücherei Leipzig, which Lehmann successfully merged with the Deutsche Bibliothek in 1990. The Verein Deutscher Bibliothekare e.V. , founded in 1900, is the association of the approximately 1,700 academic librarians in Germany.
