Speed Record For CitiesSeven cities in 21 days. Always moving, always under pressure, always searching for different people and cultures. In 2006, Christian Ernst, Lars Harmsen and André Rösler speedily travelled big cities like Mexico City, Dubai and Frankfurt, spoke with artists and collected their work. The three artists processed their own impressions of life in the ever-new cities in photographs, collages and illustrations. The artworks are supplemented by a music CD and texts by international writers, who were awarded the Adalbert von Chamisso Prize for their German works. The colourful collection resulted in a book, which became an artwork in itself through the combination of all the work. Now, students at the Ecole nationale des Arts in Dakar are invited to input their artistic signatures on the themes of globalization, change and constancy and the question of their own identity and place in an increasingly anonymous society. Harmsen, Ernst and Rösler will work on site with the students and present their previous work from Bastard – Choose my Identity in an exhibition.
