In the Fire’s ColdFlames blaze up the walls, the floor is charred black, we hear beams bursting; the heat must be unbearable by now. Yet, in reality this fire is ice-cold, for it was ignited solely on the screen by Spanish artist Eugenio Ampudia. Together with 25 artists from around the world commissioned by the Goethe-Institut he is using video installations and photographs to illustrate the Storm brewing overhead as a consequence of climate change. In the exhibition, viewers experience the effects of climate change in the heat of Patagonia’s forests and the biting cold of the Antarctic with Ampudia’s Fogo frio. Shown on eleven screens, the free exhibition from Rio de Janeiro will be shown at the Akademie der Künste in Berlin until 20 June.
