How Time Flies
The latest technological innovation: in the 1960s at least, that’s what the reel-to-reel tape recorders in the language labs of the Goethe-Institut were. Much has changed since then: CDs have taken the place of tapes, multimedia libraries and online platforms replaced the language labs and the Goethe-Institut has grown since its founding in 1951 to become a worldwide network. With 149 institutes in 93 countries, approximately 3,000 employees and millions of language students, it is celebrating its 60th birthday in 2011.
