The Sound of the Swans

What does a park sound like? Wind rushes through the trees, snow or gravel crunch underfoot, swans beat their wings. Every place is linked to tangible sounds. The Escoitar artists’ collective made field recordings in Kadriorg Park in Tallinn and interwove them with fragments of traditional Estonian folk songs, modern choral works and oral testimonies. White Walk is the result, a geo-targeting audio tour that visitors can use to discover the park. Sounds of a hidden city are revealed to them, steeped with personal histories and music. White Walk is part of the exhibition Gateways. Art and Networked Culture at the Kumu Art Museum in Tallinn.
