Oh Christmas Tree...

…how charred are thy branches. This year, they’ll be packaged in 100-gram portions. In a new twist on Christmas the design exhibition Oh Tannenbaum! reinterprets the fir tree, showing exhibits that may be far from our conventional ideas of Christmas trees. The Christmas tree is both heathen and Christian, it adorns both the supermarket and the Christmas market, our living rooms and public squares, from Stockholm to Beijing. The idea was that of product designers Johannes Müller and Johannes Marmon in collaboration with the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. This year, selected exhibits can be seen at more than 25 Goethe-Instituts. In our “Advent Calendar” a new version of the Christmas tree can be discovered every day.
