Buying artworks entirely without bias and free of the influence of big names: L’art pour l’art, art for art’s sake was the idea behind the exhibition “Cartes postales d'artistes” at the Goethe-Institut in Lyon. Visitors were able to take the postcards exhibited here home with them right away, too, for a standard price of 10 euros. The cards had been designed by over one hundred renowned artists from France and Germany such as François Morellet and Klaus Staeck, but also by art students from the two countries. The catch: the visitors did not discover whose work they purchased until later. In this case, the artist’s name was Alice.
