Things transform in the dark. Simone Demandt documented what can be seen when daylight disappears and lights go out in laboratories. The German photographer exposed one colour negative each for eight to ten hours with an analogue large-format camera. The scant light in her photographs is emitted by displays, controls, monitors and emergency exit lights. Consequently, Demandt’s exhibition is called Dark Laboratories.
