Looking Forward
Semanur moved to be with Serkan out of love: she is from Turkey; he is a Turkish-German who has lived in Germany since he was three years old. Both of them were somewhat prejudiced: Serkan thought Turkish women were old-fashioned. Semanur says that Turkish-Germans do not have a good reputation in Turkey; they are often stuck between the two cultures. Yet, before her immigration to Germany, Semanur was faced with another test to prove basic German language skills. ”Im Kopf waren wir schon in Deutschland” is the name of a Goethe-Institut publication portraying 27 former examinees.
