Croatia has been a member of the European Union since July 2013. The protracted accession process involved high expectations but also some scepticism. After around 100 days of EU membership it’s time to take stock cautiously for the first time. In that context, authors from this small country on the eastern Adriatic coast allow an insight into the everyday life of a society undergoing radical change: war, democratisation, financial crisis, fighting corruption, becoming closer to Europe, EU accession as such – all these themes are also reflected in a very lively literature scene, which is becoming increasingly present on the German market.

There are readings and discussions with author Ivana Bodrožić, publicist and translator Srećko Horvat, author and journalist Damir Karakaš from Croatia, as well as German author and translator Alida Bremer.
