As the official guest country, Brazil presents its literature and culture at the Frankfurt Book Fair six months before the start of the 2014 FIFA football world cup. And no other country is as closely associated with football as Brazil.
In the “Culture Stadium” Brazilian and German authors read excerpts from their works and speak about their love of football, its origins and significance to people, and about goals and triumphs. And of course about the FIFA football World Cup in Brazil in 2014 as well – and its significance for a country that now ranks fifth in terms of industrial nations, but which has also recently been disrupted by protests.
